which is better for holding heat for solar power, water and granite, or just water?
Water has a higher specific heat than granite so it would make sense that water would hold more energy, but I’m wondering if the granite is better at storing the energy over time in a solar heater. I want to know why, because I’m confused.

water does have a higher SH, by a factor of 5. although since the density of granite is about 3, that means the volume SH is closer to water.
The only reason I can think of why you would use granite is that unless the water compartment is sealed, the water can evaporate and take the heat away.
