Pos: Everything. The source of the energy is free, largely available and natural, so no real impact to the environment. In few words, it is 100% renewable, clean energy.

Negative: The energy is captured and transformed by panels. Due to the current status the technology, these panels are not very efficient (around 8-12% eff. for commercial panels) making the use of this technology not very cost-efficient for small project (i.e, house / buildings). But for some case, specially large projects or large fields, it could be an alternative option that could really have an impact and save a lot money in the long run. The use of solar energy has to be financially evaluated as a long term investment, not as an immediate return on your money.
