Every electromagnetic radiation(visible and invisible) posses Energy and momentum. [ Energy = h*frequency]—Planck

A solar panel converts this Electromagnetic energy into electrical energy as a result of photoelectric effect.

In photoelectric effect, the photons (particles of light) strike electrons of a photosensitive material and a flow of electron is created producing current.

This mechanism is somehow modified in a Semiconductor junction which results in a Solar panel.
