Many home owners are turning to solar power hoping to reduce their household energy consumption. Rising energy cost has become a major concern and people are frantically search for ways to save on electricity bill.

One of the solutions is install home solar power system to help supplement their electricity needs. The fastest and easiest way to do so is to install a Do It Yourself (DIY) residential solar kit.

If you are planning to install your own solar energy system, consider the Sunforce 39810 kit. It is capable of generating up to 80 watt of power at 4.67 amp under a clear blue sky.

The solar panel is actually made from high efficiency polycrystalline accompanied by module manufactured by Sharp Corporation of Japan. Sharp is the largest producer of solar module in the world.

Size wise, the 39810 is 51 x 26 x 4 inches and weighs about 28 pounds. Light weight is critical because an oversize and heavy solar panel will be very tough to install on your own.

Since the Sunforce 39810 comes only with the solar panel, the other important components you will need are the charge controller, battery units and power inverter. There are also a couple of smaller components such as voltage meter, amperage meter, DC disconnect switch, safety cut off fuses and system monitor.

All of these components are available from Amazon.com and major hardware stores around the country.

Before you begin your home solar power project, it is best you understand the science behind a solar system and how individual component works. Starting the project without a proper plan is not recommended because you will end up spending more money.

If you do not have the skill or technical knowledge, outsource the project to a professional solar contractor or get a copy of DIY home solar guide to assist you.
