Solar Power Habitat Family
A family participating in 1House At a Time receives a solar-powered home. This system will produce between almost 3-kilowatts of electricity for the homeowner. Austin Community College students volunteered to install the photovoltaic system led by Austin based Texas Solar Power Company. Craig Overmiller empasises safety and understanding of installing grid-tie PV systems. Students must have a background in Electronic technology and be progressing in a career in renewable energy. Understanding Local requirments and National Electric Code are pivitol for safety, operation and maintenance. The value of a PV system is often associted with envirnmental issues and energy conservation. However, solar electric systems can provide financial benefits as well. Electricity generated by this PV system will be used to offset utility power, thereby reducing the cost of electricity for the new homeowners.
