Q&A: What is the CO2 emission of a geothermal heat pump with solar power?
Hi I was wondering what the CO2 emission of a geothermal heat pump would be using solar power.

There isn’t any CO2 emission when operating anything by solar panels. UNLESS you consider the carbon footprint of the manufacturing of the solar panels, which is what makes solar panels not really as much of the solution as you may think.
All that the geothermal heat pump is, is a clever arrangement of the air conditioning, and it makes no emissions of anything (other than what ever was used to make its electricity source).
CO2 emission comes from combustion or respiration. There is no combustion or respiration in a solar panel or a geothermal heat pump.
Also, don’t be afraid of CO2 emission. All it will make humans do is breath more, and it is not poison in any way. Plant life does a damn good job of regulating the level of CO2.
CO2 is not as bad of a “greenhouse gas” as it has been made out to be. Water vapor is perhaps more of a greenhouse gas than CO2 is, but people like to blame CO2 because it has a more poison-sounding name than water does.
