Recent natural calamities that are happening all over the world have awakened people to the effects of climate change. These events are no longer tales from the past. These frightening forces of nature such as earthquakes, super typhoons, tsunamis and forest fires, have actually happened and some are still taking place in many parts of the world.
These have brought people from all over the world to talk about climate change and global warming. Because of these, many organizations are now running drives to promote awareness campaign about the environment and are giving lists of recommendations on how each one could contribute in building a better world for all.
These campaigns include the use of alternative energy resources such as solar power which could provide electricity to homes, power that could be used to run vehicles in the future, and power that could be used for heating pools and homes in the winter. These are just some of the many possible uses of alternative energy which, if everyone would take into their homes will create a great impact toward saving the environment and maybe curtail the progress of global warming.
So how could people participate in this great endeavor? Many have already made use of solar power by having home solar panels installed on top of their houses or placed on designated areas where sunlight is most accessible during the day. By having these in their homes, they make use of the powerful rays of the sun which are being absorbed and stored in these specially made panels to convert this energy to electricity which would power most household appliances in their homes.
Having these home solar panels installed doesn’t inconvenience anyone. In fact, it is for a greater cause that people are using these unlimited resources from nature. It doesn’t emit any sound and are not hazardous to health. It’s just like a silent ally in every aspect of everyday life. It is there doing the work it is designed to do, generating monthly electricity savings without producing pollution, has a very low maintenance expense and would stay functional for decades to come.
To some who are more into making their homes look attractive and at the same time join in the environmental protection drive, the advent of solar shingles and roofing were most welcomed by them. They are now available in the market and can be installed in place of the home solar panels.
It doesn’t matter however, if one uses the panels or the roofings. What matters most to the world is the conscious act of each individual in helping to preserve and protect the environment by using these available resources that are not causing any harmful effects to our planet.
With everyone contributing to the environmental protection programs in any way they can, the future will look better indeed. The world that the people of today have created and protected for the next generations to enjoy will be a legacy that they will appreciate and will pass on to many more generations to come.

This year, there is only a low expectation that COP16 will reach a consensus on a legally binding deal. Is COP16 destined to be another failure?
