As we do not have a lot of sun, all year, in England and the solar panels have to be replaced every 10ish years?

No, England is similar to Seattle in the United States where there is only around 90 days of sunshine. England will do better with wave energy and harnessing this form of energy. I also understand that wind power is another good source for England.
